Relief Efforts from Toyota

Toyota said Friday that it is donating $500,000 to the American Red Cross, Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders. The company chose the last two organizations because they have been working in Haiti for a long time, said Michael Rouse, vice president of philanthropy and community affairs at Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc.

In addition, Toyota North America, Toyota Motor Sales, Toyota Financial Services and Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America will match employee contributions to the Red Cross through Feb. 1, without limit.

Rouse said Toyota also offered to provide vehicles to the Red Cross.

Eco-Friendly Car of the Year - 2010 Prius

Cars.com Eco-Friendly Car of the Year 2010 Toyota Prius

"The third-generation Prius improves upon a model that effectively transformed the nameplate into an American mainstay. The new Prius packs more power and better gas mileage — 50 mpg in combined EPA estimates. Best of all, it now feels like a substantial car, ready for family outings or interstate road trips. While there are more fuel efficient options than ever before, there's no denying this: The Prius is still the most fuel-efficient, gas-powered, mass-produced car you can buy."
